三因

The six "causes" of the <Abhidharma Kośa> [lang id =1028]倶舍論 as reduced to three in the <Satyasiddhi śāstra> [lang id =1028]成實論, i.e. [lang id =1028]生因 producing cause, as good or evil deeds cause good or evil karma; [lang id =1028]習因 habit cause, e.g. lust breeding lust; [lang id =1028]依因 dependent or hypostatic cause, e.g. the six organs [lang id =1028]六根 and their objects [lang id =1028]六境 causing the cognitions [lang id =1028]六識.

﹝出佛性論﹞ 〔一、 應得因〕， 謂依真如空理而修因行， 應得菩提之果， 故名應得因。 （梵語菩提， 華言道。 ） 〔二、 加行因〕， 謂依菩提心， 加功用行， 以此為因， 即能證得法身之果， 故名加行因。 〔三、 圓滿因〕， 謂由加行故， 因行圓滿， 故名圓滿因。

正因、 了因、 緣因。 正因是眾生本有的真性； 了因是明白一切真正的道理； 緣因是修種種真實的功德。
